I wanted to share a quick note with our readers about Progress's annual maintenance for OpenEdge licenses.
The maintenance costs for OpenEdge 11 are going UP!
Why? Because OE 11 moved from Active to Sunset waaaay back in 2019, and is shifting from Sunset to Retired on April 1st, 2025.
You know that standard annual maintenance for active OpenEdge products is 22%, but for sunset and retired products there is an additional percentage added on top. Starting in 2024, product maintenance costs come out to 26% instead of the standard 22%! CAREFUL: this also applies to version 12.2, which will shift from Active to Sunset on October 1st, 2025.
As techies at heart, we want to see you upgrade to 12.8 to benefit from all the exciting new features (I am giving a presentation on all the cool new features at PUG Challenge!). But as a business, we want to help save you money, too!
